Lottery players across the nation are looking ahead to an even larger payout later this week after no ticket matched all six winning numbers in the Monday, Sept. 14 Powerball drawing. Although the grand prize managed to roll over once again, two major tickets sold in Ohio and Georgia delivered substantial multi-million and million-dollar consolations.

The winning white ball numbers selected during the Sept. 14 event were 19, 20, 57, 61, and 67, paired with the red Powerball number 22. The optional Power Play multiplier drawn for the evening was 2X. Ahead of the drawing, the advertised grand prize stood at an estimated $253 million, offering an upfront cash option of $107.4 million for any prospective jackpot winner.

Even though the top tier remained untouched, significant payouts were awarded to players who matched most of the winning combination. In Ohio, a ticket holder matched all five white balls and had added the optional Power Play feature, which effectively doubled the standard $1 million second-tier prize into a $2 million windfall. A separate player in Georgia successfully matched all five white balls without the multiplier, securing a $1 million Match 5 prize.

With no player matching all six numbers on Monday night, the grand prize has officially rolled over to the next scheduled drawing on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Officials estimate that the jackpot will climb to approximately $271 million for the midweek drawing, representing a one-time cash value payout of $115.1 million for a winner choosing the lump-sum alternative.

Players eager for the next opportunity at the expanding prize pool can follow the game's regular weekly schedule. Powerball drawings are held three nights a week, taking place at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Securing the top prize requires navigating steep mathematical barriers. According to official game rules and statistics, the overall odds of correctly selecting all five white balls alongside the red Powerball to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

The popular lottery game maintains an extensive national footprint, operating across 45 states—including Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana—as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Participation in the game is broadly accessible, as individuals do not need to be United States citizens or official U.S. residents in order to buy tickets and claim their winnings.

In the tri-state area of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, lottery participants can purchase tickets in person at a wide range of authorized retail locations, such as local gas stations, supermarkets, and convenience stores. Buyers must note that retail cut-off times for ticket purchases typically occur one to two hours before the 11 p.m. ET drawing, depending on specific local state regulations.

Digital and online avenues have also made purchasing tickets more accessible across various jurisdictions. Kentucky residents are able to buy tickets directly online via the Kentucky Lottery platform at kylottery.com. In Ohio and Indiana, individuals can purchase their entries digitally through Jackpocket, the official digital lottery courier partner of the USA TODAY Network.

Direct online ticket purchasing through official state lottery websites is permitted for residents in several other jurisdictions as well. Beyond Kentucky, residents can legally buy digital entries in Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

A basic Powerball play slip costs $2 per ticket. For an additional $1 per play, participants can activate the Power Play add-on, which multiplies all non-jackpot prize winnings by the multiplier number selected during that evening's drawing.

In Kentucky, Indiana, and select other participating jurisdictions, players can also choose the Double Play add-on for an extra $1. This feature enters the player's numbers into a secondary drawing for a chance to win a top prize of $10 million. During the Sept. 14 Double Play drawing, the winning numbers were 12, 23, 48, 61, and 67, with a red Powerball of 8.

The standard gameplay format requires participants to select five numbers ranging from 1 through 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 through 26 for the red Powerball. Players can either choose their own specific numbers using a paper play slip or choose a quick pick option to have the lottery terminal randomly assign numbers.

Beyond the jackpot, Powerball offers multiple fixed tiers of cash prizes. Matching all five white balls without the red Powerball yields a $1 million payout at odds of 1 in 11.7 million. Matching four white balls plus the red Powerball awards $50,000 with odds of roughly 1 in 913,000, while matching four white balls alone or three white balls plus the Powerball delivers a $100 win, with odds of approximately 1 in 36,000 and 1 in 14,500, respectively.

Smaller match combinations round out the game's prize tiers with more favorable odds. Matching three white balls alone or two white balls plus the Powerball yields a $7 prize, at odds of 1 in roughly 580 and 1 in 700. The lowest prize tier awards $4 for matching either one white ball plus the Powerball, which carries odds of about 1 in 92, or matching solely the red Powerball, with odds standing at approximately 1 in 38.
