Millsboro Man Held on Six-Figure Cash Bail Following Bar Stabbing and Multi-Town Motorcycle Pursuit

A 67-year-old resident of Millsboro faces multiple felony charges following a violent weekend confrontation at a Long Neck establishment that culminated in a severe stabbing and an evasion attempt across Sussex County. The chaotic sequence of events, which began inside a crowded dining venue on the evening of September 12, led Delaware State Police through a multi-jurisdictional chase before the suspect was eventually apprehended in Milton.

Emergency responders were initially summoned to The Crab Barn restaurant, situated along Long Neck Road, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Patrons and employees had contacted emergency dispatchers after an ordinary dispute within the business suddenly turned bloody. Arriving troopers quickly secured the scene and began gathering witness accounts regarding the violent altercation that had unfolded inside the dining room.

According to preliminary investigative findings released by state police authorities, the confrontation originated over a dispute regarding seating at the restaurant's bar. During the argument, the 67-year-old suspect allegedly drew an edged weapon and attacked a 44-year-old man. The unprovoked physical escalation instantly shocked onlookers and left the younger patron with severe lacerations.

The 44-year-old victim suffered critical bodily harm during the encounter. Emergency medical technicians arrived at the Long Neck Road venue to administer immediate first aid before transporting him to a regional hospital for specialized trauma care. Medical staff admitted the victim to address the severe trauma inflicted by the weapon, while investigators continued processing the dining room for forensic evidence.

Before state troopers could arrive at The Crab Barn, the alleged assailant fled the property on a motorcycle. Witnesses provided responding patrol units with a description of the suspect and his vehicle, enabling dispatchers to broadcast an urgent alert to law enforcement personnel monitoring primary transit corridors throughout Sussex County.

Shortly after the initial alert was issued, patrolling officers spotted a motorcycle matching the description traveling along Indian Mission Road. When troopers activated their emergency lights and sirens in an effort to initiate a felony traffic stop, the motorcyclist refused to pull over, initiating a dangerous pursuit across local roadways.

During the ensuing pursuit, the motorcyclist accelerated away from law enforcement vehicles, operating his motorcycle in a reckless manner at high rates of speed. The pursuit traversed several miles, presenting substantial safety hazards to other motorists on the roadway as the fleeing operator ignored emergency signals and continued his attempt to evade apprehension.

The high-speed chase came to an end several miles north in the town of Milton, where the suspect finally brought the motorcycle to a halt. Officers converged on the location and took the 67-year-old operator into custody, terminating a pursuit that spanned multiple communities without causing further traffic collisions.

Upon detaining the Millsboro man, arresting troopers noted distinct indicators of physical intoxication and impairment. In addition to displaying signs of alcohol or substance influence, the suspect exhibited medical complications, prompting law enforcement to transport him under custody to an area hospital for clinical evaluation and clearance.

Once doctors concluded their assessment and discharged him from medical supervision, the suspect was transported to a Delaware State Police barracks for formal processing and booking. State prosecutors approved a sweeping slate of charges against him, headed by four distinct felony counts arising from the stabbing and the subsequent flight from authorities.

Among the felony charges lodged against the defendant are first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, both stemming from the violent stabbing at the bar. He was also formally charged with disregarding a police officer’s signal during the pursuit, as well as a felony count of fourth-offense driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, reflecting a significant prior history of impaired driving infractions.

In addition to the felony counts, state police charged the Millsboro man with misdemeanor resisting arrest alongside a comprehensive list of traffic violations accumulated during his reckless operation on Indian Mission Road and adjacent thoroughfares. The combined charges illustrate both the severity of the initial assault and the extensive risks posed during his subsequent vehicular flight.

Following his formal arraignment before a judicial officer, the 67-year-old suspect was committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction. He remains incarcerated after failing to post a court-mandated cash bond set at $129,018, pending future court appearances in Sussex County.

The violent incident at The Crab Barn has highlighted the acute dangers that arise when interpersonal disagreements in commercial venues turn physical, particularly when combined with severe impairment and vehicular evasion. Community members and patrons have expressed relief that the suspect was apprehended before additional bystanders or motorists were harmed during the multi-mile motorcycle chase.
