A 21-year-old White Plains resident has been formally indicted by a Westchester County grand jury on 13 criminal counts following an alleged series of violent attacks against his former girlfriend in Yonkers. The comprehensive indictment encompasses severe felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from a prolonged physical confrontation in early June, as well as subsequent repeated violations of a judicial order of protection.

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced the charges, detailing an escalating sequence of events that began on the evening of June 1. According to prosecutors, Micah Jackson encountered his ex-partner around 8:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Nepperhan Avenue and Yonkers Avenue. When the woman declined to engage in conversation with him, the encounter quickly turned violent as Jackson allegedly struck her in the face and placed his hands firmly around her neck.

In an effort to escape the physical assault, the victim fled toward her nearby automobile and took refuge in the rear seat. However, prosecutors state that Jackson pursued her immediately, confiscated her car keys, opened the vehicle door, and continued to strike her repeatedly across the face.

The victim managed to break away a second time and sought safety by getting into an approaching taxi cab. Rather than terminating the pursuit, Jackson allegedly entered the same taxi behind her. The cab then transported both individuals to another location within the surrounding area, where the confrontation continued to unfold.

Upon arriving at the secondary destination, the victim requested the return of her car keys from Jackson. In response, Jackson allegedly charged directly at the woman, delivered another punch to her face, and placed her in a chokehold. Prosecutors stated that he strangled her with enough force to cause her to lose consciousness at the scene.

Following the severe assault, Jackson allegedly took the victim's mobile phones and drove away from the area in her personal automobile, leaving her incapacitated. The incident triggered an immediate investigation by local authorities to locate both the suspect and the victim's stolen property.

Law enforcement officers took Jackson into custody a few days later, on June 5. Following his initial apprehension, a judge issued a temporary order of protection aimed at preventing him from having any contact with or approaching the victim.

Despite the formal judicial directive, prosecutors revealed that Jackson actively disregarded the court's mandate on multiple occasions shortly after his arrest. According to District Attorney Cacace, Jackson violated the active protective order on three separate dates throughout the same month: June 14, June 15, and June 24.

The building of the multi-count case was handled jointly by specialized law enforcement divisions. The Yonkers Police Department's Domestic Violence Unit worked in close coordination with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office Domestic Violence Bureau to document the initial attacks and the subsequent protective order breaches.

Jackson was formally arraigned on the indictment on August 25 before Westchester County Court Judge Susan Capeci. During the court appearance, prosecutors presented the full scope of the grand jury's findings, which catalog a pattern of violent conduct, theft, and continuous disregard for court mandates.

The top felony charge lodged against Jackson is one count of second-degree strangulation, designated under New York law as a Class D felony. In addition, the indictment features several Class E felonies, consisting of two counts of first-degree criminal contempt for breaching the protective order and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny linked to the stolen property.

The indictment further charges Jackson with multiple misdemeanor offenses that address the repeated acts of physical violence and property interference. These include two counts of third-degree assault, one count of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, one count of petit larceny, and one count of second-degree criminal contempt, all categorized as Class A misdemeanors.

Rounding out the 13-count indictment are three violation-level charges of second-degree harassment, which account for the repeated threatening and abusive behavior directed at the victim during the encounters.

During his arraignment before Judge Capeci, Jackson entered a formal plea of not guilty to all 13 charges. He was subsequently released from custody after posting $10,000 cash bail, with the court ordering him to return for his next scheduled proceeding on September 16.

The Westchester County District Attorney's Office noted that this indictment is not Jackson's only active matter in the local justice system. Jackson currently faces two additional open criminal cases in Yonkers, both of which are also connected to domestic violence offenses.
