Hunt County residents can look forward to a comprehensive lineup of autumn gatherings, educational workshops, athletic competitions, and philanthropic initiatives designed to bring local communities together over the coming weeks. From historical milestones and musical showcases to vital public safety seminars, civic organizations across Greenville, Caddo Mills, and Commerce are rolling out diverse programming tailored for residents of all ages.

Kicking off the social and charitable schedule, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) invites residents to celebrate North Texas Giving Day with a "Party on the Patio" on Thursday, Sept. 17. Scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Landon Winery, the event offers guests light hors d'oeuvres alongside complimentary wine, iced tea, and water, while also featuring drawings for official CASA merchandise to raise support for child advocacy. The celebratory momentum continues on Friday, Sept. 25, when Greenville Christian School marks its 50th anniversary with a community tailgate party from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the school’s football practice field.

Live music enthusiasts have two distinctive local productions to anticipate this month. On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Caddo Mills Historical Society will stage the Caddo Mills Opry Show at the historic 1910 Opera House at 2308 Main St., with doors opening at 6 p.m. and performances starting at 7 p.m. The $5 admission, which is free for children, directly supports local student scholarships and venue preservation, featuring guest artists Ezell Clark, Jim Venable, and John Hooper alongside headlining bluegrass group The Right Direction. Shortly thereafter, the Greenville Community Band will hold a free public concert on Monday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at Kavanaugh Methodist Church, located at 2516 Park St.

Performing arts opportunities extend to the local stage as Greenville Theatre Works prepares for its upcoming Shakespeare production. Open auditions for performers aged 18 and older of all experience levels are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26. Selected cast members will perform in the open-air theater presentation slated to run across two weekends, Nov. 13–15 and Nov. 20–22, at the Greenville Farmers Market venue.

Area public safety agencies are prioritizing lifelong wellness and emergency readiness through dedicated civic training. Greenville Fire-Rescue is hosting monthly American Heart Association CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification courses for $65 per participant, with online enrollment accessible at gfdtx.online/CPR or by phone at (903) 457-3150. Meanwhile, older residents can attend the free Living & Aging Wisely (L.A.W.) School, a recurring educational series held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of even-numbered months at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, featuring resources for independent living alongside a complimentary lunch for pre-registered attendees.

To bolster personal safety and empowerment, the Greenville Police Department is organizing a comprehensive, free Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) course targeted at women and girls aged 13 and older. The four-part instructional clinic takes place Nov. 16–19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center. Because the curriculum builds tactical skills progressively, attendees must commit to all four sessions, and pre-registration is required through Lt. Brandon West via email at bcwest@greenvilletx.gov.

Compassionate emotional support remains a cornerstone of upcoming faith-based programs. Wesley United Methodist Church is launching its sixth season of GriefShare, a structured support ministry created to help individuals navigate the complex emotional landscape following the death of a loved one. The weekly meetings will occur each Sunday from Sept. 20 through Dec. 6, between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Room 1, with RSVPs managed by the Rev. Dorothy Straks via phone at (903) 662-8577 or through dorothys@wesleyumcgreenille.org.

Community fellowship and affordable dining take center stage the following weekend as the Golden K Kiwanis club holds its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 26. Hosted at Wesley United Methodist Church from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., the all-you-can-eat breakfast is priced at $5 per person, while children aged 6 and under eat for free, providing a family-friendly gathering spot to support Kiwanis community endeavors.

In addition to charity breakfasts, public wellness offerings include a free community yoga class scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library. The session welcomes residents looking to de-stress, improve mobility, and participate in library programming in a relaxed, community-centered environment.

Environmental responsibility and green living will be the focus on Saturday, Oct. 3, beginning at 9 a.m. when the Hunt County Master Gardeners host their Fall Plant Swap at the Heritage Garden Outdoor Learning Center at 2311 Washington St., where local hobbyists can exchange bulbs, cuttings, seeds, and houseplants. Concurrently, Keep Greenville Beautiful will host its Home and Harvest Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library, showcasing local vendors alongside specialized electronic recycling drop-off services.

Cultural heritage and seasonal celebration will headline the Greenville Knights of Columbus annual Oktoberfest, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The festival provides an open platform for local commerce, food, and traditional autumn entertainment, with prospective vendors required to complete their booth registration prior to the Tuesday, Oct. 7 deadline.

Regional automotive enthusiasts can participate in the fifth annual DrugFree Greenville Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Greenville High School parking lot. Welcoming all vehicle makes and models, the event features vehicle registration from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., ongoing spectator and participant voting through 8 p.m., and a formal awards presentation ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m.

Additional regional outdoor happenings include the Caddo Market Day on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. adjacent to the Caddo Mills Fire Department, where pet owners can take advantage of pet vaccination services. In nearby Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce is organizing a competitive corn hole tournament starting at 2 p.m. as part of the community's annual Bois d'Arc Bash festivities.

Closing out the autumn calendar on Saturday, Oct. 31, the Caddo Mills Fall Stroll will deliver an afternoon of Halloween festivities in downtown Caddo Mills from noon to 7 p.m. The family-friendly lineup begins early with the Monster Mash Car Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by evening trunk-or-treat activities starting at 5 p.m., offering children and families a safe, festive way to celebrate the holiday.
